Please note that SP101® is stamped on the face side (better side) on 5.5mm only as this is the most common thickness used in the flooring industry.

Why use SP101 instead of standard "general purpose" plywood?

SP101 is engineered specifically for the flooring industry. Unlike standard ply, it is guaranteed to be free of core overlaps and voids, and it has a higher-quality face veneer. This prevents "telegraphing" (where imperfections in the subfloor show through your final floor covering) and ensures a perfectly flat finish.

Is this plywood suitable for Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)?

Yes, it is the industry gold standard for LVT and vinyl. It is fully compliant with BS 8203:2017 (Annex A), which is the specific British Standard for the installation of resilient floor coverings.

Which side should be facing upwards during installation?

You should install the plywood boards with the stamped "face side" facing up. This is the higher-grade side, specifically prepared to provide the smoothest possible surface for adhesives and floor coverings.

Can SP101 plwood handle moisture?

While no plywood is 100% waterproof, SP101 is manufactured with an EN 314-2 Class 3 (Exterior) glue bond. This means it has excellent resistance to humidity and moisture, making it much more stable and less likely to delaminate in damp environments than standard interior ply.

How much coverage does a single sheet provide?

A standard 2440mm x 1220mm sheet covers approximately 2.98 square metres. When calculating for your project, it’s usually recommended to add 5-10% extra for cutting and waste.
