Marine Plywood

(13 products)

Marine plywood is a waterproof and durable engineered wood panel designed for demanding environments, exposed to moisture, humidity, and water. Constructed with high-quality hardwood veneers bonded using waterproof resins, and featuring minimal voids for superior strength, marine plywood resists delamination, fungal attack, and warping even in harsh conditions. Ideal for boat building, marine applications, exterior construction, bathroom fittings and outdoor furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is marine plywood?

Marine plywood is the ideal choice for high moisture or humidity environments where standard plywood would not be suitable. Though it is not a 100% waterproof ply, the sheets (plies) are glued with waterproof glue, which makes it a more water-resistant alternative to standard plywood.

What makes Marine Plywood different from standard plywood?

Marine Plywood is engineered for high-moisture environments. Unlike standard ply, it is manufactured to the BS 1088 standard, using high-quality hardwood veneers with negligible core gaps and bonded with waterproof WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) glue to prevent delamination.

Is Marine Plywood completely waterproof?

While it is highly water-resistant and designed to withstand humid conditions, it is not "waterproof" in the sense that it can be submerged indefinitely without protection. For exterior or wet-area use, it is recommended to seal all edges and faces with an appropriate sealant or epoxy to ensure longevity.

What are the best applications for marine plywood?

It is the ideal choice for projects where moisture and humidity are a factor. Common uses include bathroom and kitchen fittings, van and motorhome linings, garden structures, and exterior joinery where standard plywood might warp or rot.

What thicknesses and sizes of marine ply do you stock?

The Good Sheet typically stocks 12mm and 18mm thicknesses in standard 2440mm x 1220mm (8x4) sheets. We also offer "Handy Board" sizes (such as 1220mm x 610mm or 610mm x 610mm) for smaller DIY projects.

Can I get my Marine Plywood cut to a specific size?

Yes. In addition to standard sheets, a Cut to Size service is available. This allows you to receive precision-cut panels tailored to your exact measurements, saving you time and reducing material waste on-site.
