Joist Hanger For Blockwork 47mm x 125mm

This 47 x 125 SMH S range of Heavy Duty Joist Hangers is designed for building into brickwork or blockwork, providing robust and reliable support for timber joists in structural applications.

Manufactured as standard from 2.0mm pre galvanised steel to BS EN 10346, S280, all hangers feature a wide top flange design that enhances load capacity when used with masonry of minimum crushing strength 3.5N/mm² and above.

Every hanger incorporates a 75mm bearing surface and pre-punched side gussets for secure fixing into timber joists using 30 x 3.75mm Sherardised square twist nails.

Installation Guidelines

• Ensure the back plate of the joist hanger sits flush against the supporting masonry.
• A minimum of 675mm of cured masonry must be in place above the hanger flanges before any load is applied.
• Timber joists should be cut square and fitted tight to the back face of the hanger, with a maximum permissible gap of 6mm.
• Fix the joist through all pre-punched holes in each side gusset using BPC 30 x 3.75mm Sherardised square twist nails.
• For ceiling joists, notching at the hanger base is recommended to achieve a level surface for plasterboard installation.
• Heavy Duty Restraint Straps must be used with all SMH joist hangers to provide the necessary lateral restraint.
